Spin around... Søgne?

It's been a long time since I've written anything here now, mainly because I guess no-one is that interested in hearing about my regular life anymore :) No more "On my way to Greenland", "Rio next", "On a boat in Africa". Now I am more like "Look at my lovely house", "My cat being really cute" etc.. hehe. But since it is my blog I will keep updating every now and then anyway! I know there are some sailors around the world wondering what a normal life is too!

So what have I been up to lately.. working.. My new job is actually pretty good! I am working on drilling control systems, for those who have no idea what that involves.. in easy words, when the operator press a button, one of the machines move.  Other than that I'm working out a lot, running all over Søgne and also do loads of fysio and training to get my shoulder back on track! And of course I hang out with friends, go out, do some gardening and fixing stuff in my house and hopefully soon start building a garage! Damn I am grown up!!

Best thing of all.. the summer is coming soon!

A Perfect Sunday!

What can I say, it's been sunny, it's been hot (I have actually worn shorts and t-shirt all day.. in MARCH in NORWAY!!), I have spent the day with great people, I've been hiking, I've been bbq'ing (or atleast eaten Mads and Helena's lovely bbq food :) And finishing the night off on the coach with my lovely cat. And most of all, I am NOT offshore :) Sorry guys and girls on CHA. I really was thinking about you guys today..

Tired Lava..
Life is not too bad in Norway. It is weird not being offshore, but it is kind off nice. First week at my new job was good and interesting, jumping straight into a big drilling project.. guess I need to learn something about drilling! Still half handicapped after dislocating my shoulder snowkiting 2 weeks ago and no kiting for 3months!!SUCKS! Guess I have to find another hobby for a while... any ideas?

Sideshore's Snowkite Girl Camp at Røros

With my car stuffed to the roof with kites, board, sleeping bag and warm clothes I headed for Røros and the very first Sideshore Girls Snowkiting Camp this weekend. In Oslo I picked up my friend Jorun, we stuffed more gear in the car, cranked the music up load and headed north!

21 girls showed up and already Friday afternoon, Storwartz proved to be a brilliant spot. The sun was shining from blue sky and a nice 7-8m/s breeze kicked off our snowkiting weekend and it never stopped. 3 full days of wind and sun, the only thing that would have made the weekend better would have been a few cm of powder.. but hey, you can't have it all!

Thanks for a brilliant weekend everyone! It was worth the loooooong drive :) Hope to see you all and more girls on later events!

Equator Crossing and other Transit activities

So what do we do on a 10 days transit from Rio de Janeiro to Cape Verde? Well, we BBQ, we play basketball even had a basketball tournament and of course we had the Equator crossing "Neptun Ceremony". My last days in Seismic turned out to be pretty relaxed :) Thanks to all the great people around the fleet that have made my last 3 years in Seismic memorable! Going to miss you all!

Challenger Year!

What a year I have had.. Sitting, as usual on the boat, daydreaming, I started thinking about all that have happen in 2011,and what a year it has been! I have had an amazing year. I have had loads of fun, some good some sad times, I have lost touch with some good friends but I have also met so many new friends, I have been disappointed but also really surprised and impressed, I have sold my first home, but found my dream home and figured out where I want to be, I have travelled the world, I have missed those who means the most to me, I have discovered new things about myself.. and about others.. And lots have changed!

Last New Year was celebrated in Honolulu, this New Years I spent with wonderful friends in my own home. Last easter I spent surfing the waves in Maui, this easter I am planning to spend in the snow, last year I spent far away from home, 230days on travel and work, the rest on Maui, this year I am planning to spend mostly at home, in Kristiansand:)

I am saying farvel to a job and a lifestyle i have loved and to many people that have made the last 3 years in PGS special. But I am looking forward to start my new life in my dream house in my HOME town in a new and exciting job with my friends and family just around the corner:)

Some of the people that have made my last year in Seismic special :) Crewmeal in Rio.. jeeez I am going to miss those!!:p (as always, awesome pictures from Suzanne)
